In All Your Getting, Get Understanding
My last blog update was about the story of the talents, and I promised you that in this post I'd talk about the role of knoweldge in the fulfillment of our calling and why what you have and do is a direct result of what you know, understand and do.
And I confess that when I wrote this last post, I had no idea that there was a scripture directly related to what I wanted to cover until this morning - and I came across it by accident - or maybe not! Here's the scripture reference…
"Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established. By Knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches" Proverbs 24:3-4
Now going back to the man with the one talent in Matthew 25, I'm willing to assume that he had no idea "how" to take that one talent and multiply it and he probably also had no idea that just by putting it into a bank, he would at least be able to withdraw it with interest.
Had he "known" about investing and it's advantages, he may not even have doubled his talent but at least he would have kept it with extra! And this is no different to the gifts God has given us, when we make use of them, they have to multiply because of our experiences, good or bad, that we learn from and because the more we do something, the better we get at mastering it.
And all too often you'll hear people making statements like "it's okay for you because you had a good education," or, "you have a good job," or "you've got your husband" but these same people always fail to realise that getting to where you are today may have been a struggle and that there is only one difference between you and them - you didn't throw in the towel!
When things got tough, you kept going knowing that if you could just persevere and overcome another hurdle you'll be closer to your dreams. You had the vision, you kept the vision and you kept moving closer toward that vision.
If you're not at this point in your life yet, I encourage you to take that one talent and seek out mentors and coaches, which could be a family member or friend, who will show you how to take that seemingly small gift and make it into something great. All you need is one idea and soon you'll be the one on the receiving end of the ten talents.
But remember, it's not just any knowledge that will enable your rooms to be filled with precious and pleasant riches. There must be a foundation and like Solomon's riches, it must be built on wisdom and established with understanding. In other words, the knowledge you gain to improve your understanding must be rooted in the Will of God. If not and you copy others and go in your own direction, whatever you build could come creashing down like a pack of cards.
So remember, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Proverbs 4:7
Until next time, God Bless

Greetings in His name, thank you for that God-given message, a couple of months ago I had resigned from my job as a legal secretary for almost 11yrs to pursue a career and full-time studies in the area of Children's Services, a path the Lord has directed me to. Since I started school in March of this year I haven't had to worry about when my next Bill is going to get paid, or where my food is going to come from or where I'll get the money to fill up my petrol tank given the rise in petrol prices…. When I resigned from my job the Lord spoke to my heart reassuring me that He will provide for me through all his riches in glory, irrelevant of the circumstances and conditions that may come my way, and in all that concerns me - my Lord has provided for me all the way! I stand here today and declare that I am Blessed to glorify His name, the name above all names and his name is JESUS!
Your sister in Christ

Joana,
I am always so blessed when I see people just living by His Word, that is by Faith! What He says in His Word, He will perform and you are a living testament of that! Keep the faith and keep being blessed - that's my command!
Your Sister in Christ,
Trish
