BLESS THE Lord, O my soul!
When was the last time you told your soul to bless the Lord? And how many times have you read Psalm 103?
This morning, I saw the first verse of that passage of scripture in a new light … I started reading …
BLESS THE Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me bless his holy name.
And then I read it again ….
BLESS THE Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me bless his holy name.
And again …
BLESS THE Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me bless his holy name.
And then I made it my prayer …
BLESS THE Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me bless his holy name.
And that's when it hit me … "what is within me that must bless the Lord?" Remember, we are speaking to our soul - our thoughts, the mental, emotional part of who we are.
So I started to bless the Lord for all of the potential that God put inside of me, for my intellect that I will use for His glory, for all of the things I need right now that I'm yet to see come to pass, but that I believe will come to pass … for the vision that God has placed inside of me and, let me tell you, I was so blessed.
I want you to start speaking to your soul right now and tell it to "BLESS THE Lord." Strat speaking to "all that is within you" and command THE ALL to "BLESS THE Lord!" That includes but not exclusive to:
- good health
- better finances
- the car you've always wanted
- furthering of your ministry
- your chidren's wellbeing and education
- a better home
- promotion
- establishiment of your purpose
- success in your business
But to sum this up, what Bishop Ben Oruma would call the things that allow you to live "the 'A' Life." That is, the Abundant Life - with a capital 'L.'
Whatever is relevant to your vision, these are the things I want you to start blessing the Lord for right now because if they're within you and, in accordance with the Word (not selfish desires) it means God put them there and if God put them there, He expects those blessings to be manifest and come to pass.
What does verse 2 of Psalm 103 say …
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
What benefits? Psalm 103 goes on to list them …
- forgiveness of your iniquites
- healing of your diseases
- redemption from destruction
- your life crowned with lovingkindness and tender mercies
- youth renewal without lack
And on and on… So what is Psalm 103 telling you? You have a lot for which you can bless the Lord and God's given you a helping hand. He's layed out for you in this passage of scripture all of the things inside of you for which you are able to "BLESS THE Lord!"
You may not see THE ALL, other people may not recognize them but whatsoever is conceived in the spirit, must be manifest in the natural. Your soul starts off this process of conception and manifestation not just by what it thinks, but by the very words it's able to voice. So at least let those words be good so that "the words of your mouth, and the meditation of your heart, will be acceptable in God's sight, your strength, and your redeemer."
God blesses what He accepts and I pray that you'll see this passage of scripure in the same way I did this morning and I know that when you bless the Lord with what is inside of you, God will be blessed and in turn will bless for He himself has spoken it.

This passage really blessed my soul. It's amazing how we see the word in different lights and something new is opened up to us. The word never changes, but God shows us through his loving kindness a new way of seeing his word, just reading this passage it came alive in a different light for me. Now my soul will really bless Him with all that has been placed in my to bless Him with. Our God is a GREAT GOD worthy to be praised.
with warm regards,
Lois
